#sportsmom
Tis the season.. Football and cheer season! Practice all week and games on Sundays. This is my family's life from the beginning of August until mid November, then at school and work on top... Holy moly life just got crazy!
In this blog I'm going to share some of my tips and tricks. That helped me and my family get through Sports season.
Organization
In my house, I am outnumbered three-to-one! We have two cheerleaders and football player. Both sports have so many pieces that it makes my head spin! Thank goodness for Shonna Ramos who sells 31. To organize our cheerleaders we have two hanging garment bags. One bag fixes everything a cheerleader needs for her uniform, accessory pieces, bow and even shoes! Now football is a completely other story. My son doesn't have more pieces they're just so much bigger. The large utility tote is perfect for uniforms pads and the helmet. After practices everything goes back in the tote. After games everything gets washed(even the tote).
Fast food
I'm by no means a chef in fact I hate cooking! But my kids can't eat McDonald's every night we have practice... I would go broke! One of my dear friends Angela Britcher did a piece on fast easy food. One of our family's favorites is homemade hot pockets. All you need is pizza, dough, mozzarella cubes and meatballs. Wrap the mozzarella and meatball with the pizza dough bake for 20 minutes at 335 degrees. When I make them I make the whole bag of meatballs. We freeze most of them and then reheat for a minute in the microwave when we need on-the-go food. I also do so many crockpot meals this time of year. I have a whole board on Pinterest Glammom88 just dedicated to crock pot food. For an easy snack I cut up bananas and put peanut butter or Nutella in between. These are great to eat as soon as they're made or after they're frozen. I usually put four or five in a baggies. That way the kids can just grab a baggie before they walk out the door.
Six years of being a sports mom I can tell you three things you should always have in your car. First invest in a fold-up chair, about 30 bucks at Walmart. You never know when you're going to get to a random field without bleachers. Or the bleachers are really gross and you just can't sit on them. Second is a wagon. As I wrote before, with sports, you need a lot of stuff. After years of being the mom who lugged everything from the car to the field, the wagon has been amazing. Third thing is a canopy tent. Our friends all have them and finally we broke down and bought our own. You never know when you're going to get to a field and there's going to be a zero shade for miles. One other random thing is a blanket, we keep two in the car at all times. A couple years ago we had one game where it was a sunny 75 degrees and then went to 55 really quick. After that blankets stayed in the car.
I hope these things are helpful to all the #Sportsmoms out there!
